About the Project
CC Joburg Glasgow was a collaborative effort by artists Anthea Moys, Lindiwe Matshikiza and Dean Hutton and curated by Lavendhri Arumugam and Natalie Polombo. The project invited the artists to rework and activate a street level public billboard in Braamfontein. In expanding their interest in place making and a general desire for inclusive making, the artists wanted the billboard to be activated by the people that lived, worked and played in Braamfontein. They also invited everyone and anyone who wanted to come play to book mini residency slots where they could come and activate the window of the Ithuba gallery space. After a month of experimentation and active research, the artists created the backdrop for the billboard that then grew over time with participating artists and residents of Braamfontein.
